Training News

It is an interesting time to be a surgical trainee. The recent Greenaway report Shape of Training has caused anxiety amongst many that any reduction in the length of training will be detrimental to the “craft” specialties. Couple this with a shift in rhetoric from training “specialists” to training “generalists”, of post-CCT subspecialty “credentialing”, plus talk of an increasing need for acute general surgical consultants, it is no wonder many trainees are concerned about their career prospects.
